Detroit Tigers Activate Austin Jackson, Option Avisail Garcia to Triple-A Toledo

The Detroit Tigers announced they will activate center fielder Austin Jackson from the disabled list in time for the series opener against the Minnesota Twins tonight. Jackson has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo and went 3-f0r- 13  over three games with the Mud Hens. Jackson has been out on the disabled list since May 12 nursing a poor left hamstring and was hitting .272 with 11 RBI and five stolen bases this season. The Pittsburgh Pirates placed staff ace A.J. Burnett on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday evening due to a strained right calf muscle, an injury that Burnett disclosed to Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle on Wednesday. Since the injury was announced, Pittsburgh has not disclosed how the strain came about. Rockies Troy Tulowitzki Has Broken Rib – Headed for DL

Troy Tulowitzki was diagnosed with a broken rib in his right side after an MRI on Thursday night and will be headed to the disabled list. Tulowitzki left Thursday’s game with Washington in the eighth inning after diving for a ground ball. The Texas Rangers starting pitcher Matt Harrison is now projected to rejoin the Rangers sometime in September following two surgeries on his back to repair a herniated disk. The Rangers will start Harrison on a throwing program this Monday, wherein he is expected to throw on flat ground for about four to six weeks. When it rains, it pours for the San Diego Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin. According to Andrew Baggarly a CSN Bay Area contributor, San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval will  be placed on the 15 day DL. Sandoval was diagnosed with a strain of the left foot following an MRI on Sunday.
