D-Backs Aaron Hill Out With Broken Hand, Call Up Didi Gregorius

D Backs NewsArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a broken hand and prospect Didi Gregorius was reinstated to the  Diamondbacks roster in his place. Hill, 31, is hitting .306 (11-for-36) with 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 10 games with Arizona this season and is expected to miss between four and six weeks.

The Diamondbacks depth chart has already been bitten by the injury bug with left fielder Jason Kubel  center fielder Adam Eaton  and shortstop Willie Bloomquist already on the DL. Cody Ross  just returned from the DL.

“I was very disappointed yesterday when I learned the extent of my hand injury,” said Hill. “I am going to take some time off from baseball activities to let the break heal before starting the rehab process. I am committed to do everything in my power to return to the lineup as soon as possible.”

Gregorius, 23, batted .387 (12 for 31) with two home runs in seven rehab games with Triple-A Reno  and was placed on the disabled list on March 31 with a strained right elbow. Gregorius was acquired by the D-backs in December with left-handed pitcher Tony Sipp as part of a three-team trade that sent pitching prospect Trevor Bauer to Cleveland.
