The Detroit Tigers announced they will activate center fielder Austin Jackson from the disabled list in time for the series opener against the Minnesota Twins tonight. Jackson has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo and went 3-f0r- 13 over three games with the Mud Hens.
Jackson has been out on the disabled list since May 12 nursing a poor left hamstring and was hitting .272 with 11 RBI and five stolen bases this season.
To make room for Jackson the Tigers have optioned Avisail Garcia back to Toledo. Garcia hit .288 with a couple of home runs and 10 RBI over 24 games in this stint with Tigers.
There was some speculation that the Tigers may demote Matt Tuiasosopo instead of Garcia when Jackson was ready to come back but Tigers manager Jim Leyland has said Garcia would be better served long-term getting at-bats at Toledo
