The New York Yankees have reached an agreement with Carlos Beltran on a three-year deal worth $45 million, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.
In 145 games for St. Louis in 2013, Beltran hit .296/.336/.491 (128 OPS+) with 24 home runs.
He will be able to split time between right field and DH with the Yankees, saving some wear and tear on the 36 year old.
They lost their first rounder for signing Brian McCann and the supplemental pick they received for losing Curtis Granderson to the Mets when they agreed to sign Jacoby Ellsbury. That being said draft picks don’t seem to matter much to the Yankees anyway.
Having essentially saved nearly $200 million by not signing Cano, expect the Yankees to continue some early Christmas shopping for free agents in the coming days.
