Over the course of the past three seasons, Dioner Navarro has played in no more than 64 games in a season. Now healthier, Navarro reaffirmed his presence by slugging three home runs in the Chicago Cubs‘ 9-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.
Navarro would start his game off with a solo homer in the second inning, followed by a two-run shot in the fourth that would put the Cubs ahead 4-1.
With the Cubs up 6-2 in the seventh innings, Navarro would launch a three-run homer to right field, scoring Anthony Rizzo and Alfonso Soriano and increasing the Cubs’ lead to 9-2.
In all, Navarro finished 3-for-3 with three home runs and six RBI, while scoring four runs.
What did his teammates think of his big game? “That was awesome to watch,” Cubs starter Scott Feldman said. “Really just happy for him because he works so hard on all the other things – calling games, receiving, going over the scouting reports. It’s nice to see him rewarded with a day like that.”
With the 9-3 victory, the Cubs have now won three straight and have improved to a 21-30 record on the season.
