Approaching the plate in the bottom of the ninth-inning with the Atlanta Braves losing 3-4, pinch-hitter Evan Gattis would slug a go-ahead solo home-run to left field, evening the score 4-4 and sending the game to extra-innings.
The go-ahead home run was Gattis’ third home run in nine pinch-hit at-bats this season.
The Atlanta rookie catcher is now hitting .254 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 36 games this season, who has seen limited action this past week with the recent return of Brian McCann from the DL.
Following a double by Jason Heyward and an intentional walk to Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman would single to right field, scoring Heyward and winning the game for the Braves.
The Braves have now won five games in a row and improve to a 27-18 record, maintaining a four game lead over the Washington Nationals in the NL East standings.
