Adam LaRoche could be on the verge of ending a season-opening slump. Over the last 20 plate appearances LaRoche is reach base 14 times. Those are nearly Hall of Fame numbers coming from where he has been.
Even with the recent uptick in offensive production LaRoche is still hitting just .196/ .291/ .314 with a grand total of three home runs and 10 RBI.
La Roche suffered through an 0 for 26 slump with a double and a walk in the final game of the Atlanta series. After striking out 30 times over 25 games, he has only struck out three times in the past five games, and is 7 for 13 over that time.
“Just being a little more patient overall, taking some walks, getting in some better hitter’s counts. For a week or two there, I felt like I was 1-2 every at-bat and in defensive mode. So getting back to seeing it again is nice.” said LaRoche
Fantasy Play: well it’s about time, fantasy owners ran from LaRoche in record numbers over the past few weeks as he is owned by 50% in ESPN leagues. After clubbing 33 home runs in 2012 with 100 RBI it’s only a matter of time before LaRoche returns the form, and that process may be underway.
