WASHINGTON – Stephen Strasburg pitched well until the sixth inning when he gave up four runs to the Atlanta Braves. The Nationals were leading 9-0 when the inning began.
Strasburg left the game with a five run lead. The Braves would add four more runs in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth take a 10-0 lead in the game.
After Ian Desmond struck out in the bottom of the ninth, Danny Espinoza launched a game tying home run to left-center field.
The two teams combined for 30 hits and 4 home runs. Chipper Jones drove in two runs on a single to surpass George Brett for the most career RBI by players whose primary position was third base
