Harper, Jackson Lead Surging Nationals Over Blue Jays

TORONTO – Bryce Harper backed up the strong pitching of Edwin Jackson with three hits and the Washington Nationals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3. Toronto’s starting pitcher Brandon Morrow left the game after just nine pitches when he strained a muscle in his left side.  The Nationals pounded the Blue Jays pitching for 14 hits, led by Harper with three hits.

Adam LaRoche and Rick Ankiel each homered for the Nationals. Jackson pitched eight strong innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out three. The Nationals have won seven of their past nine games and improved to 5-2 in interleague games.  Yunel Escobar and Colby Rasmus homered for the Blue Jays.
