MIAMI – The Miami Marlins Josh Johnson outpitched the Boston Red Sox Josh Beckett leading the Marlins to a 4-1 win over the Red Sox. The win for the Marlins snapped a six-game losing streak. Donovan Solano drove in two runs with a hit and a sacrifice fly, and recently recalled Gaby Sanchez added another RBI.
Johnson pitched seven strong innings, striking out seven, and allowing one earned run on four hits. Beckett also pitched seven innings, striking out five, but allowed four earned runs. Those four runs were scored in the first two innings. Scott Podsednik had three of the five Boston hits. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Red Sox and their seventh in their last eight games. The Sox are now three games under 500. the win for Johnson evened his record on the season at 4-4 and Beckett fell to 4-7 . The two teams resume their series on Tuesday.
