C.J. Wilson Dominates Seattle in 7-1 Victory

Angels NewsComing off of three straight losses, Angels starter C.J. Wilson pitched a dominating game against the Seattle Mariners en route to a 7-1 victory for the Los Angeles Angels.

Wilson worked eight innings of one-run baseball, surrendering six hits and striking out 10 batters, while walking a season-low two batters.

Wilson has now pitched five straight quality starts and despite three straight losses, the Angels starter has lowered his ERA from 4.04 to 3.38 on the season. In 10 starts this season, Wilson has a 4-3 record and a 60/32 strikeout to walk ratio in 63.2 innings. Alarming has been Wilson’s high walk rate, which has been tops amongst AL starters this season.

The Angels offense would give Wilson early run support, scoring five runs in the first inning led by Alberto Callaspo‘s two-run double off of Seattle starter Brandon Maurer. A struggling Josh Hamilton would also contribute to the game, driving in two runs of his own.

Los Angeles has now won four straight games after having lost five of their previous six games. The Angels improved their record to 19-27, remaining 10.5 games behind the AL West division leading Texas Rangers.
