Troy Tulowitzki Homer Leads Rockies Over Cardinals

Rockies NewsJorge De La Rosa took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Troy Tulowitzki  smacked his eighth home run of 2013 to help the Rockies beat the Cardinals 8-2 on Sunday.

The  Rockies had been held scoreless for 28 consecutive innings prior to Tulowitzki’s  home run. Charlie Blackmon then added a two-run shot in the sixth.

The Cardinals lost for just the second time in 11 games.

“I definitely think it was a big hit and it took some pressure off Jorge,” Tulowitzkisaid. “He didn’t feel like he had to be perfect, even though he was real close to being perfect.” De La Rosa did not allow a hit until David Freese‘s two-out single in the seventh.

Fantasy Notes: Tulowitzki is hitting .324/.415/.627 in 33 games this season and he’s on pace for 35 homers and 136 RBI.  Michael Cuddyer was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 9, with an inflammed cervical disc.
