The Rakuten Golden Eagles reportedly have decided to post right-hander Masahiro Tanaka according to Sponichi and Nikkan Sports. Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times provided the translations from the sites.
Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball finalized a new posting system earlier this month that caps the fee for players at $20 million and the team was hesitant to post the 25 year old right-hander, but apparently have changed their minds.
Tanaka went 24-0 last season with a 1.27 ERA
The New Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners are among the teams expected to pursue Tanaka. Other clubs like the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers could get involved as well.
