Oakland right fielder Josh Reddick may get a day off after a collision with the right-field wall in Baltimore to make the final out of the game Friday night.
Reddick made a leaping catch of a ball hit by Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis, and stayed down several minutes before being carted off the field by the A’s training staff. Reddick has no signs of a concussion and is listed day-to-day at this point.
Reddick had the wind knocked out of him, and has a contusion under his right shoulder. “He took a good blow,” manager Bob Melvin said. “Knocking the wind out of him stunned him. … It was a hell of a play especially with the magnitude of it, to seal the last out.”
Reddick has been a leader for the resurgent A’s all season. Reddick is batting .272 with 22 home runs and 50 RBI. His OPS is .885.
