According to Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports the Kansas City Royals have acquired OF Justin Maxwell from the Houston Astros.
Maxwell is 29 and is hitting .241/.311/.387 with two home runs in 115 plate appearances for Houston in 2013, after hitting 18 homers in 2012.
The Astros will get minor league pitcher Kyle Smith. Smith 20, has a 2.85 ERA 5-4 over 104 1/3 innings in A ball. He was rated #11 in the Royals system.
