Earlier this week Houston Astros first baseman Carlos Lee declined a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lee was within his rights, as permitted by his limited no-trade clause.
Today Lee accepted a trade to the Miami Marlins and was pulled from the Astros 6- 4 loss in the seventh inning. The 36-year-old first baseman is hitting .287 with five homers and 29 RBI, in this the final year of a six-year, $100 million contract.
Houston will absorb a huge portion of the $9 million still owed to Lee as part of his deal
Houston will receive Matt Dominguez, a third baseman, and pitcher Rob Rasmussen in the trade.
Lee will join a struggling Marlins ball club. Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen will likely use Lee as a first baseman.
