Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday his first work off the mound since landing on the disabled list May 16 according to Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune.
Price suffered a triceps strain and was projected to be out until mid to late June.
Price was 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA over nine starts this season. Jake Odorizzi and Chris Archer have pitched in his place in the rotation.
Price likely would have to complete several mound workouts before receiving clearance to begin a minor-league rehab start. Barring any setbacks Price will be ready to pitch in late June.
Tampa Bay is currently 32-26 three games behind first-place Boston in the American League East. The team has one in their last 10 games.
