Terry Francona enjoyed a successful return to Fenway Park as the Cleveland Indians routed the Boston Red Sox 12-3. Francona received a standing ovation after the first inning following a video tribute on the centerfield scoreboard.

Drew Stubbs and Mark Reynolds drove in three runs each and Cleveland had 16 hits. Ryan Dempster surrendered four runs on five hits and four walks and was pulled after a three-run third inning. In his last three starts Dempster has given up 15 earned runs in 12⅔ innings, and 11 walks.
David Ortiz hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Indians then scored eight runs over the next three innings including six runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.
