Jaime Garcia will have shoulder surgery that will end his 2013 season. Garcia was examined by Dr. James Andrews who recommended the surgery, confirming an earlier diagnosis of a small tear in his labrum.
Cardinals team doctor George Paletta will perform the surgery. Garcia is expected to be ready to go for the Cardinals in 2014.
Garcia was 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA before having to visit the doctors with shoulder pain.
With the winter off Garcia tried to rehab the shoulder but began to feel discomfort about two weeks ago.
