Brandon League May Be Out As Dodgers Closer Soon

Dodgers newsBrandon League has been trying to do just about anything to give away his closer’s role. Despite League’s high salary and multi-year contract, the embattled closer has a 5.51 ERA and has lead the Dodgers to one of the worst bullpens in baseball, one of many problems currently impacting the expensive NL West team.

Kenley Jansen would be the natural pick to replace League should Don Mattingly finally pull the trigger.

Fantasy Play: Kenley Jansen, if he is still somehow available, should be picked up immediately. The Dodgers produce many save opportunities and Janson is easily superior to League.

Having the opportunity to add saves would be icing on the cake for Jansen owners, who will likely get their wish despite Jansen getting hit hard twice over the weekend. It’s been a similar story all year long for Los Angeles; Jansen has been dominant and right when it seems League is going to be dethroned, Jansen struggles in his own role.

Dodgers’ Manager, Don Mattingly, was last heard saying he had “no idea” who the Dodger’s closer was, which means it’s a matter of time before Jansen gets his chance.
