Miguel Gonzalez will return from the disabled list for the Baltimore Orioles and will start against the New York Yankees. The Orioles have lost six straight games and three of four to the Yankees in 2013.
The Orioles have also dropped seven straight at home for the first time since an 11-game slide Aug. 22-Sept. 7, 2007.
Last season, Gonzalez was 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA in two starts against New York.Gonzalez, has been on the disabled list since May 9 (retroactive to May 4) with a blister on his right thumb.
Phil Hughes will start for New York. Hughes has a 2-3 record with a 5.88 ERA in 2013. Hughes is coming off a horrific start last Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners. Over his last two starts he has allowed 13 runs in 6 1/3 innings.
The Orioles optioned RHP Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Norfolk To make room for Gonzalez.
