The Boston Red Sox placed Andrew Bailey on the disabled list with a right biceps injury. Bailey hasn’t pitched since April 28 against Houston and converted five of six save opportunities while Joel Hanrahan was on the DL, missing 15 games with a right hamstring. Bailey is scheduled to undergo an MRI and no timetable for his return was announced.
Bailey was expected to be available for Saturday’s game but after batting practice the right-hander said he felt discomfort in his bicep and was not clear to pitch. The Red Sox activated LHP Craig Breslow from the 15-day disabled list to take the roster spot.
Fantasy Play: Hanrahan will resume his duties as the Boston closer. Hanrahan has four saves in five chances with a 9.45 ERA this season, over 6 2/3 innings. As for Bailey fantasy owners are kind of in a wait and see mode pending the results of his MRI. Stash him for now.
