NEW YORK – For many people the American League East is considered the toughest division in baseball. For R.A. Dickey, there doesn’t seem to be much to it.
Dickey became the first pitcher to throw consecutive one hitters since Dave Steib accomplished the feat in 1988.
It has only been accomplished 10 times in major league baseball history, counting Johnny VanderMeer’s back-to-back no-hitters.
Dickey walked to and struck out 13 Baltimore Orioles for a 5-0 victory.
Ike Davis hit a grand slam home run to give Dickey all the run support he would need.
Dickey now has 5 straight starts of 0 ER and 8 or more strikeouts — the longest streak in MLB history
