BOSTON – Clay Buchholz struck out six Baltimore Orioles and walked one in recording his third career shutout. The Red Sox beat the Orioles 7-0. Adrian Gonzalez had three hits and drove in two runs. Kevin Youkilis and Daniel Nava each had two hits. Orioles starter Brian Matusz pitch to one batter into the third and gave up five runs, four of those earned and he walked five. However, the night belonged to Buchholz.
DETROIT – Miguel Cabrera homered (13) , Brennan Boesch broke out of a slump with a pair of hits and the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 7-5. Indians starter Derek Lowe gave up seven earned runs in five innings of work he struck out four and walked one. José Valverde came on for his 10th save in the ninth.
OAKLAND, Calif. – Coco Crisp hit a solo homer and bases-loaded triple to help the Oakland A’s rout the Texas Rangers 7-1 . Yu Darvish (7-4) gave up six runs, six hits and six walks in 5 1/3 innings, failing in his bid to become the first eight-game winner in the American League.
