NL Recaps – Jason Heyward Powers Braves to Sweep over Marlins

MIAMI –  Jason Heyward hit two solo homers to center and the Atlanta Braves completed a three-game sweep over the Miami Marlins 8-2 . Giancarlo Stanton hit his 14th homer and Jose Reyes hit his first for the Marlins.  Miami Marlins’ Mark Buehrle pitched six innings giving up only two earned runs and striking out three.

CINCINNATI –  Aroldis Chapman gave up his first earned run and RBI double in the 10th inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-4. Chapman (4-1) hadn’t allowed an earned run in a club-record 24 appearances covering 29 innings. He came in to start the 10th with a 0.00 ERA and gave up a leadoff double by Clint Barmes.

SAN DIEGO – Matt Cain struck out 9 over 7 innings of work to win his sixth straight start and Buster Posey, Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco homered and the New York Giants beat the San Diego Padres 8-3 . Cain allowed three runs all unearned and seven hits and walked just one. San Francisco took two of three from the Padres (19-39), who have the worst record in the majors.

PHILADELPHIA – the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a four-game sweep over Philadelphia, their first since 1946 as the Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-3. Juan Rivera, Jerry Hairston Jr., Matt Treanor and James Loney had two hits apiece for the Dodgers. The last-place Phillies (28-31) have dropped a season-high six straight games.

WASHINGTON – R.A. Dickey became the first nine-game winner in the National League and the New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 3-1 . Lucas Duda hit his fifth home run in the last eight games to back the effort by Dickey.

MILWAUKEE –  Norichika Aoki the former Japanese batting champion hit a pair of home runs, including one to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 .
