Biotech2k buys into Vertiv (VRT) after its shares leapt in the session after results

What happened

Biotech2k started a position in Vertiv five days after the data-center power and cooling supplier posted a quarter of fast growth. For holders, the buy came after the shares had already jumped in the first session after the release.

Biotech2k (@biotech2k1) posted on X on Nov. 2.

"I would not be willing to own long term. That way, if the trade goes against me, i'm getting a better and better price as I build a core position. A good example of this is Vertiv. I started a position in it today,"

Vertiv's Q3 2026 revenue reached $4.3 billion, up 61.2% from the same quarter a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share rose 91.2% to $1.95 on the same basis.

Vertiv also gave forward revenue guidance of about $4.41 billion. By OptimistFi's arithmetic, that guidance is 2.3% above the quarter just reported.

The shares closed at $242.94 on Oct. 28, a 16.5% gain from $208.56 on Oct. 27, the session before the release.

Some of that rally has since faded. Vertiv last closed at $232.59 on Oct. 30, 37% of the way from its 52-week low of $149.83 to its high of $376.23.

Why it matters

The case rests on converting hyperscale, cloud and edge compute spending into durable, higher-margin revenue from integrated power, cooling and services built for AI.

Revenue and profit both rising from a year earlier is the kind of result that case rests on. In fiscal 2025, revenue grew 27.7% to $10.23 billion with a net margin of 13.0%.

The shares trade at 67.2 times the company's earnings over the last year.

If customer consolidation or in-sourcing cuts Vertiv's pricing power, margins could slip and the business could return to cyclical, low-margin results.
