The Los Angeles Dodgers reached and agreement with free-agent Juan Uribe and will re-sign the 34 year old to a two year deal. While reports began to circulate about possibly bringing in Michael Young to play third base for the Dodgers , ultimately wiser heads prevailed and the agreement was forged.
Uribe is coming off a 2013 season for the Dodgers in which he hit.278/.331/.438 with 12 home runs in 132 games that represented a bounce back year of worst after dismal seasons in 2011 and 2012.
Over the course of his career Uribe has hit 20 or more home runs four times.
Uribe had been seeking a three-year deal but the Dodgers were initially hesitant to go beyond one year, before finally agreeing on two, which seems like a compromise on both sides.
The Tampa Bay Rays and Florida Marlins were reportedly interested in Uribe. Tampa Bay signed James Loney yesterday essentially killing all hope of landing there and interest by the Marlins subsided.
