Tampa Bay Rays former number one draft pick Tim Beckham sustained an a torn ACL in his right leg while working out and will miss most of the 2014 season, accruing to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Beckham finally got his big league call up in September of last year going 3-for-7 (.429) in five games, and was expected to compete for a reserve infielder spot in the spring.
Beckham, 24, has been in the Rays organization and has 2700 minor league plate appearances and a career .266/.332/.381 slash line during that time. Baseball America recently ranked him as the ninth best prospect the the Rays organization.
