The Colorado Rockies have acquired left-hander Brett Anderson from the Oakland A’s in exchange for left-hander Drew Pomeranz and right-hander Chris Jensen.
The deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Earlier today it was reported that two teams were working on a deal after failing to come to an agreement last week.
Anderson is is 26-29 with a 3.81 ERA in 84 career games, including 73 starts, and has battled assorted injuries. He had Tommy John surgery in 2011 and returned in late 2012 and hit the disabled list again within the oblique strain.
“I think I’m a good pitcher when I’m healthy, but it’s been a while since I’ve had that long haul,” Anderson said. “I’m looking forward to that. I want that. I want to pitch, I want to play, I’m tired of getting hurt. It sounds good in theory, but it’s about going out and doing it. I’m putting the work in, and I’m trying to be as proactive as possible and exercise all options to prevent any injuries.”
Pomeranz has a 5.20 ERA in 30 starts and four relief appearances for the Rockies over the last three seasons. Jensen, 23, had a 4.55 ERA last season in high-A ball,
