Colorado Rockies Reach Agreement with Justin Morneau

Colorado Rockies rumorsThe Colorado Rockies reached an agreement with free-agent first baseman Justin Morneau on a two-year deal worth approximately $13 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports

Morneau hit .259/.323/.411 with 17 homers in 2013 with the Twins and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Morneau, 32, will replace Todd Helton, who retired after the season. The Rockies were thought to be interested in free-agent James Loney but those rumors should disappate now.

Morneau’s production has taken a noticeable drop over the last three years as he dealt with injury issues.

The Rockies made news earlier today sending outfielder Dexter Fowler to the Houston Astros for outfielder Brandon Barnes and right-hander Jordan Lyles and a player to be named later.
