The San Francisco Giants have reached an agreement Ryan Vogelsong and will the re-sign free agent to a one-year deal worth approximately $5 million but through incentives can earn $6.5 million. The deal is pending a physical. Vogelsong, 36, went 4-6 with a 5.73 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 103 2/3 innings this past season.
He missed almost 3 months after having surgery to repair a broken finger on his pitching hand suffered when he was hit by a pitch.
The Giants are hoping that Vogelsong can return to the form of 2011-12 when he went 27-16 with a 3.05 ERA and a 1.24 whip in 369 1/3 innings pitched. Earlier this month the Giants reached agreement with free-agent Tim Hudson. Vogelsong with join join Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum and Hudson in the Giants rotation.
