According to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle News the San Francisco Giants have reached an agreement on a two-year deal with right-hander Tim Hudson.
Hudson suffered an ankle injury and missed the final two months of the 2013 season when Eric Young stepped on his foot on a play at first base. However, From June 1 through July 24, Hudson turned in a 2.73 ERA with a solid 50-to-19 K/BB ratio.
Hudson will join Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum in the Giants rotation.
The Braves had interest in keeping Hudson. David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Braves initially offered Hudson a one-year deal to return, but later added a second year that still fell short of the Giants’ offer. The Boston Red Sox were said to be interested in Hudson. The Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and Oakland A’s all expressed interest as well.
