The trade deadline has come and gone, ending relatively quiet. While the Orioles were the overwhelming winners, most of Major League Baseball was hesitant in making any major moves.

Most teams ended up holding onto its key trade chips, particularly the Phillies, who failed to move: Cliff Lee, Michael Young, or Carlos Ruiz. Numerous other GMs reportedly had serious talks but failed to ultimately pull the trigger.
Last August was perhaps the most noteworthy waiver wire deal of all time when the Red Sox shipped Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto and their salaries in exchange for two high-end Dodger prospects.
It was a reset of payroll for Boston and Gonzalez, in particular, has helped the Dodgers sit presently in first place in the National League West. This season is unlikely to see two teams alter its futures in the same way, but there can still be players on the move this month.
