The Baltimore Orioles took a step towards strengthening their starting rotation acquiring starter Scott Feldman in a trade with the Chicago Cubs.
Baltimore also acquired backup catcher Steve Clevenger in the deal, which sent reliever Pedro Strop, starter Jake Arrieta and international bonus slots Nos. 3 and 4 to the Cubs.
The Cubs also finalized a deal that sent Carlos Marmol and international signing bonus slot No. 4 to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Matt Guerrier, and then dealt minor league infielder Ronald Torreyes to the Houston Astros for international signing bonus slots Nos. 2 and 3.
Feldman, 30, is 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts this season with the Cubs. Strop, 28 Was a primary setup man for Baltimore last season when he posted a 2.44 ERA over 70 games but has struggled in 2013 going 0-3 with a 7.25 ERA.
