MLB ScoresRookie outfielders Yasiel Puig and Wil Myers  homered to help their teams to wins last night in a light schedule in Major League Baseball. Puig hit his  seventh home run in 20 games for the  Los Angeles Dodgers and Myers  homered in his Tropicana Field debut for Tampa Bay.

Michael Brantley had a big night for the Cleveland Indians and Jonathan Papelbon blew another save for the  Philadelphia Phillies.

Tampa Bay 4 Toronto 1 – Tampa Bay Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson pitched seven innings of shutout baseball, allowing one hit while striking out four and rookie Wil Myers homered in his Tropicana Field debut to the that Toronto Blue Jays in the end they are 11 game winning streak 4-1.

Myers, who’s hitting .294 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs after eight games Was the key piece in the off-season trade that sent pitcher James Shields and Wade Davis to Kansas City.

He’s very comfortable,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said about Myers. “He’s not overwhelmed whatsoever.”

The Rays went back to back to back with home runs in the second inning  off the bats of first baseman James Loney, Myers, and  outfielder Sam Fuld.

Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth to record his 16th save of the season.

Cleveland 5 Baltimore 2 – Michael Brantley hit a home run and four RBI to lead the Cleveland Indians over the Baltimore Orioles 5-2. The win was the ninth in the past 12 games for the Indians. Nick Swisher added two hits for Cleveland.

Ubaldo Jimenez (6-4) allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings before Rich HillBryan Shaw and Joe Smith combined for 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Vinnie Pestano wrapped it up by working the ninth for his fourth save.

“Our bullpen was phenomenal,” manager Terry Francona said.

Los Angeles 3 San Francisco 1Yasiel Puig‘s hit his seventh home run season to go along with two RBI to propel the  Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the  San Francisco Giants.

Puig’s  home run in the first inning staked the Dodgers to an early lead.  later he would single in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie.

Hanley Ramirez drove in the final run two batters later on a liner toward the middle that shortstop Brandon Crawford knocked down with a lunging attempt before getting the out at first.

Philadelphia 3 San Diego 4 –  The San Diego Padres rallied from a three run deficit in the bottom of the ninth and scored the winning run in the 10th when outfielder Kyle Blanks  singled in the 10th and the Padres beat the Phillies 4-3.

Cliff Lee took a hardluck no decision after pitching  shutout baseball into the ninth.. Closer Jonathan Papelbon  blew his fourth save in his last five attempts.

“I don’t know what is worse, losing 15-0 or getting beat that way. Either way, it’s a loss and it doesn’t sit well with me,” Papelbon said.
