Andrew Bailey Blows Another Save – Out As Red Sox Closer

Red Sox closerAndrew Bailey blew his third save in his last five chances and the Detroit Tigers came back to beat Boston 4-3  on a walkoff home run by Jhonny Peralta.

After the game Red Sox manager John Farrell announced that Bailey has been removed from the closers role for Boston.

Bailey has a 15.75 ERA in a 3.25 WHIP  in his last five outings,  He has walked five, struck out three and allowed for home runs in that span.

Before his last five appearances his was ERA 1.47 and he registered 27 strikeouts, two home runs over 18 1/3 innings.

The Red Sox are expected to look internally for another option.  Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa would be the most likely choices and Tazawa was named the closer after both Bailey and Joel Hanrahan went on the DL earlier this year.
