Last year’s AL Rookie of the Year and one of the most electrifying young players in the game, Mike Trout hit for the cycle on Tuesday night in a 12-0 rout of the Seattle Mariners at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels.
Trout’s cycle would start with an infield single in the third-inning, followed by an RBI triple to deep right center field in the fourth-inning.
In the sixth-inning, Trout scorched a three-run double to left field, increasing the Angels’ lead to 10-0 over the Mariners.
Trout would finish 4-for-5 with five RBI on the night. The Los Angeles center fielder is now hitting .293 with nine home runs and 34 RBI, along with a solid .931 OPS.
Trout’s cycle is the sixth in Angels franchise history and is the youngest player to hit for the cycle since Mel Ott did so in 1929.
The cycle serves as one of the few positive highlights in a poor season for the Angels who sit last in the AL West standings, 10.5 games behind the division leading Texas Rangers with a record of 18-27.
