Carlos Gonzalez went 5-for-5 with two home runs to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Gonzalez fell a triple short of a cycle had three RBI and became the first Rockies player to have five hits in a game since Miguel Olivo in 2010.
The Rockies had been struggling to score runs of late and Gonzalez was not immune to the slump. He had gone 2-for-14 with seven strikeouts on the first four games of this trip, and he was 2-for-20 with 10 strikeouts in his past six games.
“It was a bad stretch, not being able to score runs or be able to help the team,” Gonzalez said. “I think the pitchers did a tremendous job every single game but it’s frustrating when you’re not able to put runs on the board.”

Michael Cuddyer who was placed on the disabled list this past weekend will get an epidural injection for his neck in hopes of relieving the pain.
Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs and two RBI. He last had three hits in a game on May 4 against Tampa Bay and is now batting .324 in 25 games.
Todd Helton went 2-for-4 with two RBI, his first multi-hit game since April 18
Eric Young Jr. collected his first home run of the season and second multi-RBI game as he went 2-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBI and is hitting .27 4/34 games.
