This will be the third stint with the Mariners for Ibanez
The Seattle Mariners reached an agreement with veteran Raul Ibanez on a one-year deal.
The deal is reportedly worth $2.75 million and allows for Ibanez to earn an additional $1.25 million in performance bonuses.
Ibanez hit .240/.308/.453 for the Yankees with 19 home runs in 425 plate appearances in 2012.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman had recently indicated that the Yankees were interested in bringing Ibanez back to the Yankees in 2013, but apparently could not reach an agreement.
Ibanez now joins Kendrys Morales whom the Mariners acquired in a trade earlier this week with the Los Angeles Angels, and would likely play in the outfield against right-handed pitching.
Jason Bay was also signed to a one-year deal earlier by the Mariners this month.
