Tulowitzki Return Is Not Imminent
Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki continues to rehab from a groin injury suffered earlier this summer. Tulowitzki played seven innings and went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a game at Double-A Tulsa. Tulowitzki has been out since May 30 and underwent surgery June 21.
He is scheduled to pinch-hit for Tulsa on Friday and will be reevaluated to determine plans for playing this weekend. barring any setbacks, Tulowitzki could return to the major leagues next weekend.
The Rockies are hopeful Tulowitzki can return and play the final few weeks of the season.
Josh Rutledge has been playing shortstop in Tulowitzki’s absence and is expected to be moved to second base when Tulo returns. Tulowitzki will only return if he’s feeling 100 percent. Colorado is currently in last place in the National League West with a 56-80 record, 20 1/2 games behind the San Francisco Giants. Teammate Carlos Gonzalez has been experiencing groin issues of his own, having to ice his left groin after each game this past week.
