Logan Morrison expected to be back for Spring Training
Miami Marlins OF/1B Logan Morrison had surgery to repair the patella tendon in his right knee. Morrison had the same procedure performed in December. Morrison, whose season ended on July 28 will begin rehab and the team is expecting him to be ready for spring training. Morrison is likely to see more time at first base in 2013.
Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has high expectations with regard to Morrison’s return. “The trainer told me it went well,” Guillen said. “Now the easy thing is over. The worst thing is coming: rehab. When you have surgery you fall asleep and wake up. Now the hard program is coming up and I expect him to be ready for spring training.”
Meanwhile the Miami Marlins closer formally known as Leo Nunez, Juan Carlos Oviedo underwent Tommy John surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews. Oviedo has not pitched for the Marlins since last September. Recovery and rehab generally takes between 12 and 18 months. Oviedo’s contract expires after this season and may have pitched his last game for the Marlins.
