Adrian Beltre is establishing himself as an MVP candidate
Adrian Beltre is redefining the meaning of a hot streak. Over the last month, August , Beltre hit .374 with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs, and was named the AL Player of the Month. Wednesday night Beltran hit a three-run home run the first inning and a triple in the eighth inning to help the Rangers beat the Royals.
Beltre is now hitting .318 with 29 homers and 88 runs batted in. For his part, Beltre seems unfazed, “We have a complete offensive team,” Beltre said. “Sometimes, we don’t need everybody feeling good to score. But when we have the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 hitters going good, that means we’re going to score some runs.”
Beltre is establishing himself as an MVP candidate in the American League and is now fourth in the AL in batting average (.318), seventh in home runs (29) and eighth in RBIs (88),
“We needed everything he gave to us tonight,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said after the game. “I know he has been hot, but this is the hottest [streak] I’ve seen. He jumped from 19 homers to 29. He’s just not missing his pitch.”
