Washington hits six home runs to beat Cubs

Chicago 5 – Washington 11 – Adam LaRoche hit two of Washington’s six homers, Ian Desmond had four RBIs and the Nationals beat the Chicago Cubs 11-5 . Desmond, Jesus FloresTyler Moore and Ryan Zimmerman led the Baltimore attack with home runs. Washington matched a team record of six home runs in the contest. And when Jackson allowed four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. Alfonso Soriano hit his 26th homer and a two-run triple for the Cubs. Starlin Castro had two RBI for Chicago.

McCutchen’s four hits leads Pirates over Astros

Houston 2 – Pittsburgh 6Andrew McCutchen had four hits and three RBI to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Houston Astros 6-2.  Wandy Rodriguez pitched seven shutout innings to beat his former team, scattering seven hits

Gonzales, Pacheco lead Rockies over Braves

Colorado 6  – Atlanta 0Carlos Gonzalez and Jordan Pacheco homered to lead the Rockies over the Atlanta Braves 6-0. Tommy Hanson pitched into the sixth inning allowing two earned runs and struck out eight but took the loss for the Braves, his eighth of the season. Drew Pomernaz combined with three other Rockies pitchers to shut out the Braves.

Bruce home run downs Phillies

Philadelphia  1- Cincinnati 2Jay Bruce hit a two-run home run, his 31st of the season, off Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick to lead the Cincinnati Reds over the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1. Mat Latos earned his 12th victory of the season pitching seven strong innings and allowing one earned run off striking out six

Brewers spank Marlins

Milwaukee 8  – Miami 4 – Norichika Aoki and Jeff Bianchi  homered and drove in three RBI each to lead the Brewers over the Marlins 8-4. Ryan Braun had two RBI to give him 98 on the season which leads the National League. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 30th home run and Gorkys Hernandez  hit his first career home run for Miami

Garcia strong as Cardinals beat Mets

New York 1 – St. Louis 5 –  Jaime Garcia pitched into the eighth inning allowing one run that was honored and striking out five has a Cardinals beat the New York Mets 5-1. Rookie Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched five innings allowing three earned runs and striking out four and took his fourth loss of the season
