St. Louis 4 – Pittsburgh 3 –  Matt Holliday broke a tie ballgame with a home run and Kyle Lohse pitched  five innings giving up two runs and the Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates and A.J. Burnett 4-3. Burnett pitched into the sixth inning allowing four runs, three earned. Lohse earned his 14th win of the season.

Jason Motte picked up his 31st save for the Cardinals. Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez each had two hits for the Pirates.  the Pirates are 1-6 in their last seven games and have now fallen 8 1/2 games behind the division leading Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central Division.

Milwaukee 15  – Chicago 4Aramis Ramirez hit two home runs, and was joined by teammates Ryan Braun, Carlos Gomez and Corey Hart the Brewers pounded the Chicago Cubs 15-4. Brett Jackson hit his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning for the Cubs..

Los Angeles 0  – Colorado 10  – Josh Beckett made his Los Angeles Dodgers debut and paste into the sixth inning giving up three runs but was the victim of no run support. After giving up a home run to Tyler Colvin in the first inning Beckett settled down and struck out six, while scattering seven hits. Jeff Francis and three Colorado Rocky relievers shut out the Dodgers on four hits. Colorado scored seven runs in the eighth inning to blow the game open.

Cincinnati – Arizona –  Bronson Arroyo gave the Cincinnati Reds six strong innings and a home run to lead Cincinnati to a 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.  Tyler Skaggs pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs — two earned and Justin Upton went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI for Arizona in a losing effort. Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth for his 32nd save of the season

Atlanta – San Diego – Casey Kelly pitched six shutout innings to pick up his first major league victory. Kelly walked two batters and struck out four.
