Kyle Lohse pitched seven innings of three-hit ball to earn his seventh consecutive win

Houston 2- St. Louis 4 –   Kyle Lohse allowed three hits over seven innings and won his seventh consecutive game as the Cardinals beat the Houston Astros 4-2.  Brett Wallace and Chris Snyder homered for the Astros.

Colorado 5 – New York 2 – Wilin Rosario broke a tie with the home run in the seventh inning in the Rockies went on to beat the Mets 5-2.   Rookie starter Matt Harvey struck out 9/6 innings and allowed three hits. Before the game  Johan Santana was placed on the 15 day disabled list and is expected to begin in 2o12. Jeff Francis pitched five innings, gave up five hits and one run for Colorado. Scott Hairston doubled and added his 45th RBI.

Cincinnati 3 – Philadelphia 2Bronson Arroyo pitched into the ninth inning and was backed up by the hitting of Jay Bruce who homered to lead the Reds to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Aroldis Chapman earned his 31st save of the season.  Domonic Brown homered and doubled for Philadelphia. Vance Worley allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings for the Phillies. Todd Frazier had one hit. Frazier told his playing time would be reduced upon the return of All-Star and former MVP Joey Votto.

Atlanta 5- Washington 1 –  Kris Medlen turned in seven strong shutout innings for the Braves and Martin Prado hit a two-run double to lead the Atlanta Braves over the Washington Nationals 5-1. Michael Morse drove in the only Washington run. Ross Detweiler pitched into the sixth allowing two earned runs for the Nationals. Martin Pradohad two doubles and two RBI for Atlanta

Pittsburgh 2 – San Diego 4James McDonald allowed four runs and five hits in five innings of work in the Pirates lost to the San Diego Padres 4-2. McDonald also walked five batters. Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with three RBI for San Diego. Gaby Sanchez hit a solo homer for Pittsburgh. Andrew Wernerallowed two runs and four hits over six innings to earn a win in his major league debut

Miami 2 – Arizona 3 –  Tyler Skaggs made his major-league debut and pitched into the seventh inning, allowing three hits and earning a victory over the Miami Marlins 3-2. Aaron Hill had a two-run homer and an RBI single, to back the pitching of Skaggs. Jacob Turner made his debut with Miami  and pitched six innings allowing three earned runs, no walks and struck out five. Justin Ruggiano hit his 12th home run for Miami.

Miami 0 – Arizona 3 –  Wade Miley tossed eight shutout innings to lead the Diamondbacks over the Marlins 3-0. Wade LeBlanc allowed two earned runs, three total on five hits with three walks in seven innings of work for the Marlins.  Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI for Arizona

Chicago 2 – Milwaukee 3Ryan Braun hit his 34th home run,  Yovani Gallardo pitched seven strong innings, to help the Brewers top the Cubs 3-2. Gallardo gave up two runs and four hits and struck out nine.

San Francisco 8 – Los Angeles 4 – Matt Cain scattered seven hits and one run across seven innings, struck out five and walked none. Chris Capuano  allowed six run on six hits in five innings . Joaquin Arias drove in five runs with two doubles and a home run for San Francisco. Andre Ethier went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Los Angeles
