Pittsburgh 2 – St. Louis 1 – James McDonald pitched six strong innings of two hit baseball and the Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2- 1.
Andrew McCutchen and Travis Snider both scored for the Pirates and Pedro Alvarez had two hits.
David Freese had two hits for the Cardinals. Jake Westbrook pitched into the eighth inning allowing one earned run and striking out three in a losing effort.

Los Angeles 3 – Atlanta 4 – Juan Francisco had a two-out pinch-hit single in the 11th inning and the Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers for their fourth straight win 4-3. Chicago 3 – Cincinnati 7 – Todd Frazier, Ryan Ludwick, Jay Bruce homered for the Cincinnati Reds, and Bronson Arroyo settle down and turned in a quality start pitching into the seventh inning allowing three runs. Luis Valbuena homered for the Chicago Cubs.
New York 4 – Washington 6 – Michael Moore’s expected grand slam and Bryce Harper homered as the Washington nationals beat the New York Mets and Johan Santana 6-4. Ross Detwiler pitched six innings, allowing three runs and scattering six hits, with a strikeout and walk. Kelly Shoppach hit his first home run as a member of the Mets.
San Francisco 10 – San Diego 1 – Matt Cain pitched eight innings and San Francisco scored eight runs in the third inning to beat the Padres 10-1. Marco Scutaro had two RBI, two runs scored and a homer
Miami 6 – Colorado 5 – Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton homered for the Marlins in a 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies. Eric Young Junior, Josh Rutledge, Dexter Fowler, and Carlos Gonzalez each had two hits for the Rockies in a losing cause
Arizona 3 – Houston 1 – Wade Miley gave the Diamondbacks a solid start allowing one run in six innings and striking out five. He did not walk a batter. J.J. Putz recorded his 24th save of the season for the D backs.
