Philadelphia 1- Miami 0 – in what turned out to be a classic pitchers duel Kyle Kendrick outpitched Josh Johnson to lead the Phillies 1-0 to a victory. Jimmy Rollins provided all the offense that was needed in the first inning with a solo home run for the Phillies.
“Offensively, we couldn’t get anything going,” Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. “After the last couple guys pitching, I thought today looked a little easier. I was wrong.”
Kendrick allowed just six hits over seven scoreless innings while adding six strikeouts.

San Diego 0 – Atlanta 6 – Tim Hudson pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out four.
Houston 10 – Chicago 1 – Lucas Harrell pitched eight strong innings, and Brett Wallace and Fernando Martinez hit three-run homers to lead the Astros over the Cubs
