Votto is anxious to return, but Reds management wants to make sure he is 100%

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto says he feels his surgically repaired knee is 100%. The Reds apparently are going to take any chances.

Reds manager Dusty Baker reiterated that Votto will not return during this road trip. That means the earliest Votto will be back is a week from today against New York Mets.

Votto is anxious to return to the team and said “I’d like to be ready sooner than later. I miss playing. It’s what I get paid to do. I want to help out.” and added, “I know I’m part of the team, but it’s not the same as being on the field. I kind of regret that, and I’d like to get back on the field and help out and be part of good stretch.”

Before his injury and undergoing surgery, Votto was hitting batting .342/.465/.604 with 14 home runs in 86 games, more Cincinnati Reds News
