Chicago Cubs prospects Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters were expected to be called up in September.
The Cubs made the move early and called up both Jackson and Vitters today.
Both Jackson in Vitters will be in Los Angeles where the Cubs are playing the Dodgers.
Jackson is the Cubs number one prospect overall and is playing center field and batting second Sunday against the Dodgers.
A first round pick in 2007 (third overall), Vitters is hitting .304 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI at Iowa and has a .304/.356/.513 batting line.
Vitters is not in the lineup against the Dodgers tonight, however should see regular playing time at third base over the final two months of the season.
Chicago Cubs News – although Matt Garza had his bullpen session cut short on Friday, Garza still expects to start for the Cubs on Tuesday against the Padres.
Garza has not pitched since June 21 when he experienced cramping in his right triceps during his start.
