DETROIT – The season-long wait for the Detroit Tigers to start playing baseball the way most prognosticators predicted they would when the season started.
Brennan Boesch hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to break a tie in the Tigers came back to beat the Los Angeles Angels 8-6.
The Tigers are now four games over 500 and just 2.5 games back of the American League Central leading Chicago White Sox.

Boston 5 – Chicago 1 – Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning and the Boston Red Sox went on to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1 . The game marked the return of former Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis to Fenway Park.
Youkilis was three for four with two doubles. Carl Crawford returned to the Red Sox lineup and was one for three on the night with a walk.
New York 6 – Toronto 3 – Raul Ibannez sluuged a tying breaking grand slam in the eighth inning to power at the Yankees over the Toronto Blue Jays. José Bautista injured his left wrist on in the eighth inning and was immediately removed from the game.
X-rays were negative and further tests are scheduled for tomorrow.
Cleveland 3 – Tampa Bay 2 – Zach McAllister gave the Cleveland Indians six solid innings allowing just one earned run and striking out five and the Indians nipped the Tampa Bay Ray 3-2. Tampa Bay had just six hits including Desmond Jennings six home run of the year.
Seattle 9 – Kansas City 4 – the Seattle Mariners’ Casper Wells drove in five runs and homered to help the M’s to a 9-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Justin Smoak had a two-run homer for the Mariners and Jason Vargas earned his ninth win of the year.
Baltimore 7- Minnesota 19 – The Minnesota Twins pounded out 20 hits and scored 19 runs to beat the Baltimore Orioles 19-7 . The Orioles used seven pitchers in the game. Joe Mauer had the only home run for the Twins. Denard Span had three hits and five RBI.
